Photo exhibition "New Women - Uzbekistan - the twentieth century", devoted to 30 years of CEDAW Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, is opened in Tashkent at the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan from 19 November to 2 December.

The exhibition "New Women - Uzbekistan - the twentieth century" features photographs from family albums of many famous people of Uzbekistan, collected by Marfua Tohtahodzhaeva.
"New women – Uzbekistan - XX Century" is organized by the UN Development Program in collaboration with the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan.
The exhibition presents 100 photographs, and each of them devoted to Uzbek woman - a woman of XX century.
XX century played an important role in the life of the eastern woman. This century became a turning point, since it was in these years took place the transition from patriarchal to modern lifestyles in Uzbekistan. It was at that time Uzbekistan has come to understand that the girl should not only be the mother, the guardian of the hearth, but also should contribute to the development of science, art and other fields.
