The President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed the Decree "On additional measures to regulate foreign economic activities" (PP-1169), which indicated the new rates of import customs duties for all types of industrial and food products, equipment and materials for the production of consumer goods imported to Uzbekistan and rates of excise duty on imported excise goods.

The ordinance was adopted in order to develop suitable environment for sustainable production of the domestic goods, high quality finished products, to make it competitive in domestic and foreign markets, on the basis of generally accepted international practice methods of customs and tariff regulation of foreign trade.
